Sharp heel pain in the morning? Pain that worsens after standing or walking? Our physiotherapists provide effective, non-surgical treatment for plantar fasciitis — with lasting results.
Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause of heel pain, affecting 1 in 10 people at some point in their life. The plantar fascia — a thick band of tissue on the sole of the foot — becomes inflamed where it attaches to the heel bone, causing the characteristic sharp pain with the first steps in the morning.
At Phrapy, we treat plantar fasciitis using a combination of manual therapy, ultrasound therapy, laser therapy, taping, and a targeted stretching and strengthening programme. This evidence-based approach addresses both the inflammation and the underlying biomechanical causes.
Most patients with plantar fasciitis achieve complete pain relief within 8–12 sessions of physiotherapy — without the need for steroid injections or surgery.

I had a 20-day physiotherapy session, and the results were excellent. On the first day, I couldn't sit comfortably for even an hour due to severe discomfort. Under ma'am's guidance and treatment, I can now sit comfortably for 5–6 hours with much better stamina. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone facing similar issues.
Consulting Dr. Sushmita turned out to be one of the best decisions I've made. She took the time to thoroughly understand my condition and accurately identified the root cause of my pain. Thanks to her guidance, my back pain has reduced considerably and my posture has improved.

Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the plantar fascia — the thick tissue band running along the sole of the foot from the heel to the toes. It is caused by repetitive stress on the heel, commonly from prolonged standing, running, sudden weight gain, or wearing unsupportive footwear. It is particularly common in runners and people with flat feet or high arches.
The hallmark symptom is a sharp, stabbing pain in the heel — especially with the first steps in the morning or after sitting for a long time. The pain typically eases after a few minutes of walking but returns after prolonged activity. It is usually worse on hard surfaces and when barefoot.
Yes — physiotherapy is the most effective treatment for plantar fasciitis. Research shows that a combination of stretching, strengthening, and manual therapy resolves most cases within 2–3 months. At Phrapy, we also use ultrasound therapy and laser therapy to speed up tissue healing.
Most patients need 8–12 sessions over 6–10 weeks. Chronic plantar fasciitis (present for more than 3 months) or cases with heel spurs may require up to 15–20 sessions. A home exercise programme is also essential for lasting recovery.
The most effective home measures are calf stretching (both gastrocnemius and soleus), plantar fascia-specific stretching, rolling the foot over a frozen water bottle, wearing supportive footwear (not going barefoot), and applying ice after activity. Your physiotherapist will give you a personalised home programme.
