Can't raise your arm? Severe shoulder stiffness and pain at night? Our physiotherapists specialise in treating frozen shoulder — restoring full movement without injections or surgery.
Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) is a painful condition where the shoulder joint capsule becomes inflamed and thickened, causing progressive stiffness that severely limits movement. Without treatment, frozen shoulder can last 2–3 years. With the right physiotherapy, recovery can be dramatically accelerated.
At Phrapy, our physiotherapists have extensive experience treating all three stages of frozen shoulder — the freezing phase (increasing pain), the frozen phase (severe stiffness), and the thawing phase (gradual recovery). We use a combination of manual therapy, machine therapy, and progressive exercise.
Frozen shoulder is particularly common in people with diabetes — if you have diabetes and developing shoulder stiffness, early physiotherapy is especially important to prevent progression to a full frozen shoulder.

I had a 20-day physiotherapy session, and the results were excellent. On the first day, I couldn't sit comfortably for even an hour due to severe discomfort. Under ma'am's guidance and treatment, I can now sit comfortably for 5–6 hours with much better stamina. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone facing similar issues.
Consulting Dr. Sushmita turned out to be one of the best decisions I've made. She took the time to thoroughly understand my condition and accurately identified the root cause of my pain. Thanks to her guidance, my back pain has reduced considerably and my posture has improved.

Frozen shoulder is caused by inflammation and fibrosis of the shoulder joint capsule. The exact cause is often unknown (primary/idiopathic), but it is strongly linked to diabetes, thyroid disorders, prolonged shoulder immobilisation, and previous shoulder surgery or injury.
Without treatment, frozen shoulder typically lasts 2–3 years before resolving on its own. Even after natural resolution, many patients are left with some permanent stiffness. Physiotherapy can significantly accelerate recovery and restore complete range of motion.
Yes — significantly. Evidence shows that physiotherapy, particularly manual therapy and stretching, can reduce recovery time by 6–12 months compared to waiting for natural resolution. Early treatment in the freezing phase gives the best outcomes.
We use joint mobilisation, capsular stretching, heat therapy, ultrasound therapy, interferential therapy, and a progressive home exercise programme. In the freezing stage, pain relief modalities are prioritised; in the frozen and thawing stages, progressive mobilisation is the focus.
Yes. People with diabetes are 3–5 times more likely to develop frozen shoulder. It also tends to be more severe and bilateral (affecting both shoulders) in diabetic patients. Early physiotherapy when any shoulder stiffness is noticed is strongly recommended for anyone with diabetes.
Treatment typically involves 15–25 sessions over 3–6 months, depending on the stage at presentation. Early-stage frozen shoulder responds faster. Your physiotherapist will give you a clear timeline after your initial assessment.
